Bio
Mike Jay is a self-taught, independently driven creator based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Since 2004, they started with nothing more than Windows Movie Maker and a determination to make something. Since then, he has been building, experimenting, and producing across a wide range of disciplines without formal training in any of them.
That is not a caveat. It is the point.
Everything here has been figured out by doing it, breaking it, and doing it again. The result is a body of work that spans electronic music production, experimental design, web development, WordPress plugin architecture, photography, and data-led research into digital sovereignty and platform ethics. All pursued independently and all still ongoing.
INTERESTS & SKILLS
Landscape and event photography with a working knowledge of composition and photographic terminology. Post-processing handled in Affinity Photo.
Over two decades of digital music production across a vast range of electronic genres; from cinematic ambient and chillout to drum and bass, hard psytrance, and gabba. Primary tools are FL Studio and FL Mobile, with working knowledge of VST instruments and effects. More than 250 tracks produced to date.
Custom design work produced in Affinity Designer, built from scratch using self-made templates extended with additional elements.
Practical understanding of weather models and ensemble forecasting. Capable of independent condition prediction with a particular interest in reporting when severity warrants it.
A strong preference for accuracy over assumption. Data gathering and analysis play a central role in how information is shared across all interests, including music, politics, and platform research.
Hands-on experience across the full stack of independent web ownership; from domain management, nameservers, hosting configuration, WordPress installation, theming, and ongoing administration.
Self-taught development experience in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. Capable of building and maintaining state-managed, database-driven applications as demonstrated through three independently developed, production-deployed WordPress plugins built entirely from scratch.
Microsoft 365 and LibreOffice.
Mobile database management via Binders (Android).
Ongoing interest in application behaviour, configuration, and capability across both platforms.
PROJECTS
A fully featured music player and catalogue management plugin built for individuals, artists, groups, bands, and labels. Tracks are managed as canonical entries, each existing once in the catalogue, linked to artists, and organised into playlists. Supports multiple artists and an unlimited number of tracks and playlists. Playback, artist profiles, and track lists can be deployed to any page or post via Shortcode, Gutenberg block, or Elementor widget. Built entirely from scratch with no external script frameworks.
A customisable card list and directory tool built to help users find and compare alternatives across apps, services, products, games, books, and more. At Amicite, it powers a growing suite of directories covering digital sovereignty and consumer boycotts, giving people the means to make informed, values-led decisions about the platforms and services they use. Deployable via Shortcode, Gutenberg block, or Elementor widget.
A fully customisable quiz builder with library management and share image generation. Supports images and audio per question, full or per-question timers, a highscores system, and a social share image designer. Deployable via Shortcode, Gutenberg block, or Elementor widget.
The creative identity under which all music and design work is released. Active since 2004. Full catalogue and further detail available at amicite.co.uk.

Artist Profile
Working entirely in FL Studio, Amicite moves fluidly across a vast electronic spectrum — from cinematic ambient and chillout to drum and bass, hard psytrance, and gabba — without ever settling into a single lane. His sound is his own: built through trial and refusal, shaped by an unwillingness to simply replicate what already exists. Occasionally, that sound turns its attention outward, and political commentary finds its way into the music — a reflection of the times, whoever happens to be in power.
His work is self-released and independent, rooted in the north of England, and entirely uncompromising.
