Welcome to Amicite. This website is a hobbyist project dedicated to identity and expression. We prioritise a minimal-data approach: Amicite does not have user accounts, profiles, or an active registration systems.

1. Lawful Basis for Processing

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful basis we rely on for processing technical data (IP addresses and functional cookies) is Legitimate Interests.

We process this limited data to:

  • Ensure the security and stability of our website.

  • Provide a functional user experience (e.g., remembering your Dark Mode preference).

  • Monitor aggregate, non-identifiable website traffic to improve our content.

2. Your Rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access: You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

  • Your right to rectification: You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate.

  • Your right to erasure: You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

  • Your right to restriction of processing: You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information.

Note: Because Amicite does not store names, emails, or user profiles, we typically do not hold data that can be linked back to you personally.

3. Data Retention

We keep server logs (which include IP addresses) for a limited time—typically 30 days—to monitor for security threats, after which they are automatically deleted by our hosting provider. Preference cookies (like Dark Mode) remain on your device until you clear them.

4. How to Complain

If you have any concerns about our use of your personal information, you can make a complaint to us at amiciteuk@proton.me.

You can also complain to the ICO if you are unhappy with how we have used your data:
